Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  4. Must have an ACT score of 20 or higher OR an SAT score of 950 or higher.
  5. Must be currently bowling in a USBC-sanctioned league and have bowled for three out of four years in high school and 75 percent of the league schedule.
  6. Must be a resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Texas.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Texas who are graduating high school seniors currently bowling in a USBC-sanctioned league are eligible for this award. Students must have bowled in a sanctioned USBC league for three out of four years in high school and 75% of the league schedule. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and an SAT/ACT score of 950/20 or higher.

Application requirements for the Curwen-Guidry Scholarship Fund are:

  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: After the applicant has been notified that he/she is one of the recipients of a scholarship, he/she must continue to bowl in his/her YABA league until the completion of the league schedule.

Award Amount: $750 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.

Applications are available online from the Southern Bowling Congress website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit official transcripts and one letter of recommendation from his/her principal or counselor. Completed applications must be submitted to David Clements at the address listed.
