New Hampshire Fisher Cats Foundation

Number of Awards & Eligibility: 12 awards offered annually. Ten awards will be offered to New Hampshire students, and two awards will be offered to Massachusetts students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must be a resident of New Hampshire or Massachusetts.
  5. Must be an athlete.

Description: New Hampshire and Massachusetts graduating high school seniors are eligible for this award. Students must participate in athletics; applications will be judged on academic performance, athletic achievement, and citizenship.

Additional Information: The New Hampshire College & University Council will review applications based on the following criteria: academic performance; athletic achievement; citizenship. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Fisher Cats Foundation are committed to supporting a diversity of students. Awards will reflect that commitment to geographic, gender, economic and field of study diversity, with consideration for population density. In addition to the Swymer Family Scholarship, an award offered annually to a student who has overcome a barrier and gone on to college, one of the awards will be named in honor of Chris Carpenter of the 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Furthermore, one of the awards, the Easter Seals Veterans Count Scholarship, will be awarded to a graduating New Hampshire high school senior whose parent or guardian is an active, reserve or veteran member of the United States military. Students who are chosen to receive a Fisher Cats Foundation Student-Athlete Scholarship will be invited to a special event at the ballpark, at which their achievements will be publicly recognized.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online from the New Hampshire Scholars website at www.NHScholars.org. The student must create an account on the NHScholars.org website to access the application. The student must upload the following electronic documents to the application: an essay of 250 to 500 words describing his/her education and career goals; a copy of the confirmation page of his/her FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); an academic statement of support; an athletic statement of support; and a copy of his/her most recent cumulative high school transcript (unofficial acceptable). The application must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
