  2. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must have an interest in tennis or art.

Description: The Albert R. Ochoa Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in the Austin Independent School District who have an interest in tennis or art.

Additional Information: The Albert R. Ochoa Scholarship is provided in memory of Coach Ochoa and his career as the beloved tennis coach at Anderson High School and art teacher at Burnet Junior High. Award selection will be based on the student's demonstrated interest and proficiency in either art or tennis, as is evidenced by submitted application materials. This scholarship is administered and managed through the Austin Community Foundation. Founded in 1977, the Austin Community Foundation has expanded to combine philanthropists, community leaders, and advanced financial management technologies. The foundation works to identify and assist the local populations in greatest need through a combination of scholarships, local initiatives, and grants. Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and additional information about the Albert R. Ochoa Scholarship are available online at the Austin Community Foundation website. To apply for this award, students must complete the online application form and submit all documents and information required in the supplemental question section. For this scholarship, the following is required: a letter of recommendation from a tennis coach or art teacher; a portfolio of artworks (if applicable); a list of extracurricular activities including clubs, athletics, and other campus activities; a list of other hobbies, interests, and talents; a resume detailing the applicant's work history; and an essay describing the applicant's career plans and goals. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
