Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to sit for the Connecticut Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
  3. Must have completed a minimum of 120 hours from an accredited college or university and be enrolled in an institution of higher learning in order to satisfy the 150-hour requirement of the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy.
  4. Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Please note: Applicants with overall grade point averages of less than 3.0 may also be considered for this award at the discretion of the ETF Trustees.
  5. Must currently be a resident of Connecticut OR be employed or have accepted an offer of employment at a firm, company, or agency located in Connecticut.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to accounting students who have completed at least 120 college credit hours and are enrolled in an institution of higher learning in order to satisfy the 150-hour requirement of the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy. Students must reside or be employed/have an offer of employment in Connecticut, and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the CTCPA Candidate’s Award are:

  • Essay
  • Proof of residency or employment
  • Unofficial Transcript
Additional Information: Applications will be reviewed by the Trustees of the CTCPA Educational Trust Fund, and applicants may expect to be notified by late November as to whether they will be awarded one of the Educational Trust Fund Scholarships. The award will be paid via check made out directly to the selected student and is to be presented at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville in January. Attendance is expected for this scholarship recipient. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in November for a refreshed application deadline date.Program information is available on the Connecticut Society of CPAs (CTCPA) website. Applications are hosted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) website. As part of the online application, the student must upload the following documents: an original essay of approximately 500 words on the future of the accounting profession; a copy of his/her driver's license or other form of ID if a Connecticut resident; proof of Connecticut employment with a copy of his/her offer letter if not a Connecticut resident; and unofficial transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
