In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a rising undergraduate junior or senior OR be enrolled in a master's program.
  4. Must be majoring in or have a concentration in accounting or be pursuing a master's degree in accounting or business administration.
  5. Must demonstrate commitment to pursuing a career in accounting.
  6. Must be a resident of Georgia.
  7. Must be enrolled in a minimum of six semester hours (ten quarter hours) beyond the sophomore level during the period scholarship funds are to be used.
  8. Must maintain an overall or accounting grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  9. Must attend a public or private college or university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Students can verify their institution's accreditation status on the SACS website at www.sacscoc.org/search.asp.

Description: This scholarship is open to Georgia undergraduate and graduate students who are studying accounting or business administration and demonstrate a commitment to a career in accounting. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (overall or in the major) and must attend a public or private college or university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Additional Information: The following named awards are included in this scholarship program: Ben W. Brannon Memorial Scholarship Fund - Contributed by the Livingston Foundation; Robert H. Lange Memorial Scholarship; Julius M. Johnson Memorial Scholarship; Bates, Carter & Company, LLP Scholarship; Windham Brannon, PC Scholarships; Bennett Thrasher, PC Scholarships; Collins/Moody + Company Scholarships; Gifford, Hillegass & Ingwersen, LLP Scholarships; Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP Scholarships; Robinson, Grimes & Company, PC Scholarships; Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP Accounting Scholarship; Rhodes, Young, Black & Duncan, CPAs Scholarship; Educational Foundation Direct Scholarships. Recipients will be named in April and will receive a check payable to their school.

Award Amount: $2,000 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Scholarship information is available online on the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) website. All students must apply via the online application hosted on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) website at www.thiswaytocpa.com/gscpa/. Each student must upload the following supporting documents to the online application: a personal essay of 250 words or less describing his/her career goals, including the steps he/she has taken or is planning to take to accomplish them; an essay of 250 words or less describing his/her future plans; a resume; and a copy of his/her valid Georgia driver's license or state identification card. Each applicant must also submit a sealed or electronic transcript directly from his/her current institution's registrar's office and any other schools he/she has attended showing the last three years of higher education. Transcripts must be submitted to GSCPA using the contact information provided. The online application must be completed by 11:59 p.m. EST in its entirety, including all written components and supplemental information. A student may save his/her application and make changes up to the deadline.
