Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, there were 15 scholarships awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of New Jersey.
  3. Must plan to major in accounting.
  4. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  5. Must attend high school in New Jersey.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above, OR an ACT score of 26 or higher, OR a math and verbal SAT combined score of 1260 or higher.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. high school seniors who are residents of New Jersey and are enrolled in a New Jersey high school. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above, or a minimum combined verbal, math and essay SAT score of 1260 or higher, or minimum average ACT score of 26 or higher.

Application requirements for the NJSCPA High School Scholarship are:

  • Guidance Office form
  • Interview (finalists only)
Additional Information: All finalists are required to interviewin early January at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. A photo ID is required at the time of the interview. There will be no make-up date.

Award Amount: Awards range from $1,500 to $2,500 annually, and may be renewed for up to three additional years. The student must maintain a 2.75 average overall in his/her freshman year, and a 3.0 overall average thereafter. A 3.0 average in accounting is required after the student has completed a minimum of two accounting courses.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,250.

Applications are available on the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) website or by contacting any New Jersey high school guidance office or college business and math department. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit an essay of 500 words or less addressing the topic listed on the provider website. The student must also have his/her guidance counselor complete the guidance office form. This form is available to print after completing the online application, or as part of the downloadable application. Along with the guidance office form, the counselor must also submit documentation from the testing agency of the student's SAT and/or ACT scores, and a junior-year transcript. All application materials must be submitted online no later than the deadline date. All guidance materials must be sent directly from the guidance office and postmarked by the deadline date.
