Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number and amount of scholarships awarded by the MRCA Foundation will be determined by the foundation's directors. *Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Last year, twelve scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must pursue a career in the construction industry.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be accepted at an accredited university, college, community college, vocational or trade school.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The applicant must be a U.S. undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited university, college, community college, vocational or trade school and pursuing a curriculum leading to a career in the construction industry; or a high school senior provisionally accepted as a student at such an educational institution and expressing an intent to pursue such a curriculum.

Application requirements for the MRCA Foundation Scholarship Award are:

Additional Information: Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, employment experience, financial need, letters of recommendation, and a demonstrated desire to pursue a career in the construction industry. All applicants will be notified in writing of the directors decisions. All persons, irrespective of race, gender, creed or national origin, who satisfy the eligibility requirement and make a timely application, will be considered for a scholarship award.

Award Amount: The amount of each award varies based on available funds. Last year, awards were provided for $1,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) website or by contacting MRCA using the contact information provided. Award information can be found on the MRCA website under the 'Foundation' tab. The applicant must submit three copies of a completed application form (photocopies are acceptable); a written statement from the educational institution where the undergraduate or graduate work will be undertaken, indicating provisional acceptance of the student at the institution; official transcripts of all high school and college records; a typed essay of one page or less explaining why the applicant is interested in pursuing a degree in the construction industry or related field and any steps that have been taken to pursue this goal including relevant honors, activities, or employment; and two letters of recommendation by persons not related to the candidate and are at least 18 years of age. Only one letter of recommendation may come from a director of MRCA, and letters from a director of the MRCA Foundation will not be accepted. Entries, including all required information, must be postmarked no later than the deadline date to be considered for the subsequent academic year. All entries should be mailed to the address provided.
