In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Baltimore, MD.
  2. Must plan to major in music.
  3. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.

Additional Information: Provided annually through a partnership between the Baltimore Community Foundation and the CollegeBound Foundation, this scholarship was established to honor the memory of Al Sanders: his career with WJZ-TV and his love of music. Each year, the fund will provide financial assistance to a local area student who plans to major in music.

Award Amount: $3,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,500.

Information about and applications for the award are available at the CollegeBound Foundation website. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received by the deadline.
