Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be accepted to or enrolled in a master's program at the time of application.
  3. Must plan to pursue a career in art therapy.
  4. Must be accepted to or enrolled in an AATA-approved graduate program.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  6. Must be a member of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for student members of the American Art Therapy Association with a current GPA of at least 3.50. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need and acceptance or enrollment in an American Art Therapy Association approved graduate art therapy program. Students receiving this award are also strongly encouraged to attend the association's annual conference.

Additional Information: The American Art Therapy Association and its generous donors provide a number of scholarships annually which are presented at the Annual Conference to encourage the growth of the profession by rewarding excellence and enabling access to information and resources for the members who are selected by the Scholarship Committee. The scholarship awards process is highly competitive.

Award Amount: $1000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information are available at the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) website. To access the application, students must be a registered member of the AATA. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: two signed recommendation letters that include the recommender's contact information; official transcripts; a personal essay not exceeding two pages; and documentation confirming enrollment or acceptance in an AATA-approved art therapy program. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
