Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 15 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a resident of Maryland.
  5. Must attend a college or university in Maryland.
  6. Must demonstrate commitment to pursuing a career as a certified public accountant.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  8. Must be a current college sophomore or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award. The applicant must have completed at least 60 total credit hours by the time of the award, of which at least six hours of credit are in accounting courses (including Accounting Principles I and II).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. students who are Maryland residents enrolled full time in a college or university in Maryland with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher committed to pursuing careers as CPAs are eligible for this award. Students must have completed 60 hours of college credit at the time of award, with six or more of those hours in accounting courses.

Additional Information: This scholarship program provides financial assistance to accounting students who are dedicated to 150 semester hours of education, and who fulfill specific scholarship criteria. Each applicant must demonstrate a commitment to a career as a CPA by becoming a member of MACPA's free online 'Tomorrow's CPA' program. Priority is given to renewal students. MACPA's Scholarship Selection Committee, in its sole discretion, may alter, deviate from or amend the guidelines listed above in the best interest of the scholarship program. Recipients will be notified by June 15, and are required to accept the award by telephone or mail.

Award Amount: A minimum of approximately $1,000 annually, renewable for three years if a grade point average of 3.0 or higher is maintained. Awards are disbursed semi-annually following confirmation of continued eligibility and proof of enrollment or successful completion of intermediate accounting.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available online from the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following: a signed applicant's statement; a complete copy of the SAR (Student Aid Report) which is generated upon completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); and an official, sealed transcript from the previous semester which shows cumulative grade point average, total credit hours completed and hours completed during the previous semester. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at college financial aid offices, and at high school guidance offices. All application materials should be received by the association no later than April 15.
