Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, approximately 55 awards were offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of New Mexico.
  3. Must attend a New Mexico four-year public postsecondary institution.
  4. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a graduate degree program.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need, as well as students from under-represented populations.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Graduate residents of New Mexico who are enrolled at public New Mexico postsecondary institutions are eligible for this award. Preference will be given to students from under-represented backgrounds.

Application requirements for the New Mexico Higher Education Department Graduate Scholarship Program are:

Additional Information: The Graduate Scholarship Program was created to increase graduate enrollment at public postsecondary institutions, particularly among those students who are minorities and women. Recipients must serve 10 hours per week in an unpaid internship or assistanship.

Award Amount: Up to $7,200 annually, renewable for an additional year based upon academic standing.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $21,600.
