Number of Awards & Eligibility: 21 scholarships will be provided. One of the awards will be designated as the Lisa Burke Award. This award was named in honor of a chapter adviser and is funded by an anonymous donor.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in college at the undergraduate level at time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must have an active student membership in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) with a valid ID number as of the application deadline date. Local student chapter members who are not SHRM members are not eligible to apply.
  6. Must have completed at least one HR (human resources) management course at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for current undergraduate students with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher who are majoring in human resources. Applicant must have completed at least two semesters of course work in an HR major or HR emphasis area, including at least one human resources management course. The student must also be a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Application requirements for the SHRM Undergraduate Foundation Scholarship are:

  • Resume
Additional Information: Applicants are evaluated using the following criteria: SHRM student chapter involvement and/or commitment to the HR profession, 35 percent; academic achievement, 20 percent; additional leadership and service activities/work experience, 25 percent; and financial need, 20 percent. Scholarship recipients will be announced in October. Employees or national board members of SHRM, HRCI or the SHRM Foundation and members of their immediate family are not eligible to apply for SHRM Foundation grants, awards or scholarships.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available on the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) website and will be accepted after May15. Applications must be submitted via the SHRM online form.In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a one-page (500 words or less) statement of human resources (HR) interest; a current copy of his/her resume summarizing his/her education, volunteer, and work experience; and two letters of reference that provide insight into his/her educational goals, work ethic, values, personality, and need for the scholarship (must be submitted electronically through the online application). All application materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.Please note: Only those students who are selected for an academic scholarship will be required to submit an official transcript; the transcript will be requested at a later date.
