Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
  3. Must be a high school graduate or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must major in and pursue a career in welding engineering or welding engineering technology. Students pursuing a career in welding engineering will receive priority.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  6. Must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  7. Must enroll full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. and Canadian undergraduate students who are 18 years of age or older and are pursuing a career in welding engineering. Students must also have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the Praxair International Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Applicant should have demonstrated leadership abilities through clubs, organizations, extra-curricular academic activities, community involvement, etc. Financial need is not required but would be a primary consideration when prioritizing top candidates. Please note: The applicant does not have to be a member of the AWS, but it is preferred.

Award Amount: $2,500, annually, non-renewable; however, recipients who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the American Welding Society (AWS) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: two letters of reference with one letter of reference indicating previous hands-on welding experience; a personal statement; original official transcript(s) sent directly from the college or university (if applying for more than one scholarship, only one transcript must be an original official transcript); verification of enrollment; an essay as specified on the application; and a statement of unmet financial need. Students must also file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
