Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must meet admission requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida (UNF).
  4. Must have completed all the requirements to be a rising junior or senior OR have been accepted into an eligible graduate program.
  5. Must be a declared major in civil engineering and be accepted and enrolled into the undergraduate civil engineering program, OR be accepted into the Master of Science in Civil Engineering program of study.
  6. Must have earned a cumulative UNF grade point average of 3.0 or higher if an undergraduate student, OR have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher if a graduate student.
  7. Must enroll full time (12 or more credit hours for undergraduate, 9 or more credit hours for graduate) each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credit hours (18 credit hours for graduate) by the end of the spring term.

Description: This scholarship is open to rising juniors and seniors and graduate students at the University of North Florida. Students must be studying civil engineering and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher if undergraduate and 3.25 or higher if graduate.

Additional Information: The University of North Florida's School of Engineering is proud to offer this scholarship sponsored by Taylor Engineering, Inc. Founded in 1983 by R. Bruce Taylor, Ph.D, P.E., Taylor Engineering is an employee- owned engineering company specializing in issues dealing with water and sediments in natural environments. Preference will be given to applicants with academic interests that align with the research priorities of the Taylor Engineering Research Institute, which are in the fields of coastal and water resources science and engineering. Scholarship recipients must: maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher if undergraduate or 3.25 or higher if graduate; remain in good standing as a student; comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus; and consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor.

Award Amount: $1,400 annually, renewable. The amount of the award will be determined by the fund manager, but it cannot exceed the maximum cost of tuition, books, campus housing, meal plan, transportation and miscellaneous expenses, as reflected in the annual "Cost of Education" budget prepared by the UNF Financial Aid Office. Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funding and if the applicant continues to meet all selection criteria and responsibilities. No student will be eligible to receive more than four semesters of scholarship support.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,400.
