Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be preparing for a career in the radio industry, preferably commercial radio.
  5. Must have sophomore class standing or higher at time of application.
  6. Must enroll full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The John Bayliss Radio Scholarship is offered to juniors, seniors and graduate level students majoring in broadcast communications who have maintained a 3.0 GPA or better.

Additional Information: The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation was established in 1985 to perpetuate the memory of radio executive John Bayliss and his many contributions to the radio business. Applicants must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and a personal sense of responsibility. Although financial need is a consideration, students of merit with an extensive history of radio-related activities are given preference. Recipients will be contacted by mail and/or email in the fall.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the Broadcast Education Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a resume; an official college transcript; and two letters of recommendation written by people other than relatives who can accurately evaluate his/her qualifications, scholastic strengths, and personal strengths. The student must submit one original and four photocopies of the scholarship application, essay, and resume. The transcript and letters of recommendation may be sent with the application packet as long as they remain sealed. If they are mailed separately, the student should make sure that they are sent in time to be received by the deadline date. Applications will not be accepted electronically. All materials must be submitted by the close of business on the deadline date. Incomplete and/or faxed applications will be disqualified.
