Number of Awards & Eligibility: At least eleven awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must have completed one or more academic quarters or semesters of full-time college work to be eligible for this sophomore, junior and/or senior year award.
  5. Must plan to enter into some field of science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of AIAA.
  6. Must be an AIAA student member in good standing to apply and must continue their membership during the time the scholarship is offered should they be selected.
  7. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university within the United States or its territories.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate students who have completed at least one year of study with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher. Students must plan to enter into some field of science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of AIAA.

Additional Information: The objective of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics. The institute encourages original research; furthers the dissemination of new knowledge; fosters the professional development of those engaged in scientific and engineering activities; improves public understanding of the profession and its contributions; fosters education in engineering and science; promotes communication among engineers and scientists, as well as other professional groups; and stimulates outstanding professional accomplishments. Funding is provided through the AIAA Foundation, the non-profit educational arm of the AIAA. Applicants may be students of any nationality, not restricted by the U.S. State Department, in full-time study at any accredited college or university within the United States. Each applicant's high school, college and community activities, offices, awards, and work experience will receive due consideration. Applicants do not have to be members to apply, but they must be members to receive a scholarship or award. To become a member, the student can visit the AIAA website and click on 'Join/Renew/Update.' Each applicant will be notified of his/her status by early June through mail.

Award Amount: $500 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable. Each recipient may re-apply annually to renew his/her scholarship each year until graduation.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $43,750.

Scholarship applications are accepted from Oct. 1 until Jan. 31. All applications and supporting materials must be received by Jan. 31.
