In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must major in a STEM field.
  4. Must have knowledge and experiences with American Indian tribal cultures, and demonstrate the potential for career work and contributions to American Indian tribes. (*Please note: Non-Indians may apply.)
  5. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are majoring in a STEM field. Applicants must have knowledge and experiences with American Indian tribal cultures, and demonstrate the potential for career work and contributions to American Indian tribes.

Additional Information: Administered and sponsored by 3M, the goals of the scholarship program are to enhance the overall learning experience for students in STEM fields and to empower tribal communities and governments with qualified environmental professionals that, in turn, empower the environmental management capacity of Tribal Nations. The qualifying criteria will be weighed in a scoring process with significant weight being placed on the essay question demonstrating the applicant's knowledge and lived experiences with American Indian tribal cultures, and potential for career work and contributions to American Indian tribes. Non-Indians may apply. Prior scholarship recipients do not receive special consideration. The applicant must also be a member of AISES. If the applicant is not already a member, he/she may become a member at time of application. Award Amount: Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500 and are not renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
