Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 1400 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Colorado.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident or an eligible non-citizen.
  4. Must be a graduate student.
  5. Must attend an eligible Colorado institution.
  6. Must be enrolled in an approved critical career degree program. A list of approved programs is available at http://highered.colorado.gov/Finance/FinancialAid/Forms/gradgrantlist.pdf.
  7. Must demonstrate financial need.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for Colorado resident graduate students who are enrolled in an eligible postsecondary school in Colorado. The students must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in an approved critical career degree program as identified by Colorado Commission.

Additional Information: The goal of this program is to provide need-based student financial aid is to Colorado residents who otherwise would be unable to pursue postsecondary education. Financial need is determined by using the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is calculated by the U.S. Department of Education using information provided on the FAFSA. Priority is given to students with the most financial need as follows: Level 1: Students with the Least Ability to Pay - Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) between zero and 150% of that required for a PELL grant at the point and time of the award. Level 2: Students with Documented Need and Moderate Ability to Pay Students with an EFC that is between 150% and 200% of that required for the minimum Pell grant award. Level 3: Students with Documented Need and Average Ability to Pay All other students who demonstrate financial need as calculated by the federal methodology. Students seeking professional degrees in theology are not eligible.

Award Amount: The amount ranges from $500 to $5,000 annually, and determined based on the student's financial need. Awards are not automatically renewable, recipients may re-apply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,214.
