In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior.
  4. Must have an unweighted grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Must be enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
  6. Must be enrolled full time.
  7. Must pursue a baccalaureate degree in computer science or software engineering.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Current UW-Eau Claire sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must major in computer science or software engineering; preference will be given to graduates of Rice Lake and Viroqua high schools in Wisconsin.

Application requirements for the UW-Eau Claire Karlgaard Computer Science Scholarship – Current Students are:

Additional Information: Preference will be given to graduates of Rice Lake and Viroqua high schools in Wisconsin, if qualified applicants are available from those areas. The Department of Computer Science Scholarship Committee will select recipients. Recipients will be notified in June. All Karlgaard scholars are expected to make satisfactory progress toward a degree in computer science or software engineering and maintain an overall grade point average of 3.3 or better. They must also collaborate with a UW-Eau Claire computer science faculty member to produce at least one scholarly publication and/or formal presentation external to UW-Eau Claire in each of the junior and senior years, giving proper recognition to UW-Eau Claire and to the Karlgaard Computer Science Scholarship Foundation.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable for up to two additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.
