Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. In prior years, there were 29 scholarships awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled full time and similarly enrolled during the 2018-2019 academic year. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in nine or more credit hours per term. Graduate students must be enrolled in six or more credit hours per term.
  3. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student who is currently and will be enrolled for the 2018-2019 academic year at an accredited four-year college or university. High school students (including seniors), junior/community college students, and college students graduating in 2018 are not eligible to apply.
  4. Must declare a minor or major in accounting, business administration, finance, or criminal justice, and demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in fraud examination or similar anti-fraud profession.
  5. Must attend a college or university located in North America.

Students must have declared a major or minor in accounting, business administration, finance, or criminal justice, and demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in fraud examination or similar anti-fraud profession.

Additional Information: Scholarships are awarded annually on the basis of: completion of the application; fraud-related interests, activities, goals, and desired career path; overall academic achievement demonstrated by transcripts; letters of recommendation. Recipients will be announced and distributed in April.

Award Amount: Scholarships are given in the following amounts: $10,000; $5,000; $2,500; $1,000. Scholarships are awarded in U.S. dollars and include a one-year ACFE Student Associate membership . Awards will be paid directly to the award recipient's university.Please note: Awards are non-renewable. Past award recipients cannot reapply.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $29,000.

Applications are available online on the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) website. The student must upload/submit the following materials to the online application: answers to five essay questions (ranging from 100 to 200 words); and official transcript(s) showing all completed courses from any college or university attended (printed transcripts in a sealed envelope may be opened by the student for purposes of scanning and uploading). The student must also provide email addresses for three persons who will provide letters of recommendation on his/her behalf. These individuals will receive a link to upload their individual letters of recommendation on his/her behalf. Letters should be requested from individuals who know the student in a professional or educational capacity, such as a professor or employer. It is preferred that at least one letter be from a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Students are encouraged to meet and network with a local AFCE Chapter to become acquainted with a CFE in time to request a letter. Local chapter information is available online at AFCE.com/LocalChapters. Applications must be completed online by 11:59 p.m. CST on the deadline date.
