Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a female.
  4. Must be entering her junior year of college.
  5. Must be enrolled in a federally recognized American Indian or Alaskan Native tribe.
  6. Must be from the continental United States or Alaska.
  7. Must be enrolled full time for both the upcoming fall and spring semesters.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to female U.S. students who are entering their junior year of college. Students must be members of a federally recognized American Indian or Alaskan Native tribe.

Application requirements for the Owanah Anderson Scholarship are:

  • Tribal ID
  • Essay
Additional Information: Students are eligible to receive one scholarship per year. The AAIA does not fund certificate programs or seminary. The AAIA also does not fund summer session. Funding is for both fall and spring semesters; the AAIA does not fund semesters separately. During the second round of the application process, the AAIA takes everything into consideration when assessing the student's application package including merit and need. Students must have a minimum of $750 need per semester to be eligible. Other scholarships, loans, or monies do not disqualify students from receiving an award, nor does lack of funding automatically qualify students for an award.

Award Amount: $500-$7,500  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
