Number of Awards & Eligibility: Six total awards offered annually. Two Vince DeFinis Scholarship Awards and four Foundation Scholarship Awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in a hospitality or closely-related program.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must have completed 60 credits of undergraduate coursework and not plan to graduate before December 2014.

Description: This award is for U.S. students who are currently enrolled full time in an accredited hospitality or related program. Students must have completed 60 credit hours and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Recipients must attend the conference to receive the award and next year's conference to present the award to the next recipient. Recipients will be appointed as student trustees and must attend board meetings, participate in conference calls and file quarterly progress reports with the foundation board. They must also participate in and assist in developing marketing materials for the NACE Foundation.

Award Amount: Two Vince DeFinis Scholarship Award recipients will receive $5,000 and $10,000 annually, non-renewable. The award will be distributed in two payments. The Foundation Scholarship Award recipients will receive $2,500 annually, non-renewable. The award will be distributed in two payments. The recipients will also receive complimentary student membership in the NACE. This scholarship will also include a full conference registration for the NACE Conference (Attendance at the NACE Conference is mandatory.) In addition, it includes travel costs ($250 for airfare and three nights hotel stay). The DeFinis scholarship winners will be selected at the conference, from among all Foundation of NACE scholarship winners.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $30,000.

Applications are available online from the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words explaining what motivated him/her to pursue a career in catering, events, or hospitality management (submitted in Microsoft Word format); a resume; two letters of recommendation; proof of enrollment in an accredited program from the registrar; and official transcripts from the previous two years. All materials (except official educational transcripts) must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
