Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on the number of qualified applicants. Last year, 11 awards were given.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a college junior or graduate student.
  4. Must be a Muslim.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must major in humanities, social sciences, liberal arts, or law.
  7. Must be an active member of his/her community.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Additional Information: ISF's Selection Committee will review and score applications from April to June. Applicant finalists with the highest score are scheduled for web-based video interview during the month of July. Final selections are made and all applicants are notified during the first week of August. Within one year upon receiving an award, all awardees must agree to complete 40 hours of Muslim community volunteer service in their respective field of studies under the supervision of ISF and its local operating partner. Such service shall include conducting a minimum one-day workshop within the awardees local Islamic community, with a career counseling section for teenagers.

Award Amount: $2,000 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable. With certain exceptions, ISF's policy is to send checks directly to an recipient's university. Exceptions can be made if the awards affect the recipient's financial status.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online from the Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF) website. In order to apply, the student must first create an account. As part of the completed application, the student will need to fill out and submit the following information: three reference letters; universities or colleges attended in the past six years; employment history for the past four years; award and scholarships received in the past four years; Muslim community service activities that he/she has participated in in the last four years; extracurricular activities that he/she has participated in in the last four years; an essay of no more than 400 words on his/her personal goals and where he/she envisions himself/herself in the next 8 to 10 years; and all college and university transcripts from three or more years of academic education. The student may upload the transcripts in the following file formats: PDF, doc, or txt. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. PDT on the deadline date.
