Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior in the upcoming academic year.
  3. Must be enrolled full time.
  4. Must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related baccalaureate program. Please note: Students must have a specific interest in the oil and gas industry.
  5. Preference will be given to a student enrolled at Villanova University.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is for international and U.S. students who are rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Students must be studying mechanical engineering with an interest in the oil and gas industry; preference will be given to students enrolled at Villanova University.

Additional Information: This scholarship is given in memory of Allen Rhodes, who was the youngest president of ASME and a former chair of the ASME Foundation. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. Applicants also must have established a grade point average in their degree programs to qualify. If applicants have not established a grade point average at the college level, they are not eligible to apply. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and July 1. Scholarship money will be sent to scholarship winners by the end of August.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
