Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be enrolled full time at an accredited college or university.
  2. Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Must have completed 24 undergraduate credit hours or more at time of application.
  4. Must pursue a degree in occupational safety and health or a closely related field. Examples of a closely related field are industrial and environmental engineering, other science degrees, and possibly business.
  5. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  6. Priority will be given to students attending Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX.

Description: This award is for U.S. and international students who are pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or a closely related field. Priority will be given to students attending Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX. The applicant must enroll full time and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: This award is sponsored by the Texas Safety Foundation. Priority will be given to students attending Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX pursuing an associate degree. Student must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and have completed 24 hours toward their degree. ASSE student membership is not required.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available on the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) website. To find information about this award, the applicant should click on the 'ASSE Foundation' link. In addition to a completed online application, the applicant must also submit the following: an official transcript verifying good academic standing, completion of 60 semester hours or more, and his/her overall grade point average; responses to the two questions listed on the application; and a reference letter from a safety faculty member verifying the applicant's official enrollment in occupational safety and health or a closely related field, and his/her enrollment of 12 credit hours or more per semester. If the applicant has any questions regarding the application process, he/she should send an email to the email address provided (the applicant should not call ASSE). Applications must be completed online by 11:59 pm on the deadline date.
