Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies from year to year. Last year, there was one award offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) member as reflected on his/her October chapter roster or before. New member applications must be completely processed prior to the end of September in order for a student to be eligible.
  2. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student to apply for this award.
  3. Must be pursuing a course of study in industrial engineering.
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher.
  6. Must plan to attend a college or university in the U.S. or its territories, Canada or Mexico.
  7. This award is for international and U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for current undergraduate students who are majoring in industrial engineering, have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher, have a graduation date after May/June 2019, and are members of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers. Students may attend a college in the U.S. or U.S. territories, Canada or Mexico.

Application requirements for the CISE Undergraduate Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Project write-up
Additional Information: The CIE Undergraduate Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate industrial engineering student for the best application of corporate social responsibility, resilience or sustainability principals aligned with classic industrial engineering techniques to a project for an enterprise. The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 award, as well as a stipend to cover travel expenses and registration for the Annual Institute of Industrial Engineers Conference as it is the intent that the successful candidate will present their project case study at the conference.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

A student cannot directly apply for this scholarship; he/she must be nominated by his/her department head or faculty adviser. Nomination forms are available on the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) website. Nominations must be mailed to the address provided, and received by Nov. 15. Nominating parties must submit an application form, a complete description of the project, including provision of a financial analysis using the triple-bottom line definitions of sustainability, showing a positive cash flow or return on investment to the enterprise over the project life, and a letter of support from the sponsoring or subject enterprise.
