Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must attend or plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university.
  4. Must possess an active novice class or higher amateur radio license.
  5. Must pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in any field of engineering.
  6. Must reside in Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia.

Description: This scholarship is for U.S. students who are licensed radio amateurs (novice class or higher) pursuing a bachelor of science degree in any field of engineering. Students must reside in North Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia; students must demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: The Gary Wagner, K3OMI, Scholarship is provided annually to amateur radio enthusiasts in North Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in engineering and must demonstrate unmet financial need. Recipients are typically notified by mid-May by USPS mail and email.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Foundation website. Applications must be completed online. Students need only submit one application for all scholarships for which they are eligible. The student must provide contact information for one educational reference, one character reference, and one social reference on the online application. The student must also submit a copy of his/her academic transcript from his/her most recently completed school year to the email address provided. The transcript must be scanned and submitted as a PDF.
