Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current college junior.
  4. Must be enrolled in a welding engineering technology or welding engineering program. Priority will be given to a student who exhibits a strong interest in welding equipment and has prior work experience in the welding equipment field.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be enrolled full time.
  8. Must attend a college/university in the United States. Priority will be given to those who attend Ferris State University.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. college juniors who are 18 years of age or older and are pursuing a career in welding engineering technology, or welding engineering. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be enrolled full time. Priority is given to students attending Ferris State University.

Additional Information: The applicant must be attending a four-year college or university to qualify for any of the AWS scholarships. Proof of financial need is not required to qualify for this award. Please note: The applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society, but it is preferred.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

Applications are available online on the American Welding Society (AWS) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: two letters of reference; a personal statement; original official transcript(s) sent directly from the college or university (if applying for more than one scholarship, only one transcript must be an original official transcript); verification of enrollment; and a statement of unmet financial need. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted to the address provided, and be received by the deadline date.
