Additional Information: Awarded in memory of Ross Skelton, this scholarship is provided annually to engineering students in North or South Carolina who have battled with a diagnosis of cancer. Ross graduated from Auburn University with a degree in mechanical engineering and rose quickly throughout his career as an engineer with SPX FLOW in Charlotte, NC. In addition to a passion for his role as Chief Commercial Officer, Ross was also particularly fond of golf, humor, and time spent with friends and family. Students who demonstrate a similar positive outlook, passion for engineering, and local ties to North or South Carolina will be considered for this award. Since 1993, Cancer for College has worked to provide hope and scholarship assistance to U.S. students who have been diagnosed with and battled cancer. Award selection will be based on all submitted documentation, and extra emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and the student's documented, unmet financial need. Failure to remain enrolled or transfering from a four-year college or university to a two-year community college may result in the suspension of funding. Students may also voluntarily suspend their scholarship for up to one year for verified medical reasons.

Award Amount: Award amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000 annually. The typical award amount is $5,000 but may be reduced if the student has a lower amount of unmet financial need. Scholarships may be renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $25,000.
