Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Florida.
  3. Must have some experience working in a Florida library, and must plan to pursue a career in library services.
  4. Must be a graduate student at the time of application.
  5. Must be a minority student.
  6. Must attend Florida State University (FSU) or the University of South Florida (USF).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for minority students who are currently attending FSU or USF. Applicants must be enrolled as a graduate student in a program of library science.

Application requirements for the Florida Library Association Minority Scholarship Fund are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Resume
  • Proof of enrollment
  • Proof of FLA membership
Additional Information: The FLA scholarships are available from a dedicated fund and have been given since 1989. This fund is replenished through donations and fundraising activities. The primary fundraising activity is the Silent Auction held at the FLA Annual Conference. Applicants may apply for more than one scholarship if qualified.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications and information about this scholarship fund are available at the Florida Library Association at the web address provided. Application packets must be sent as one pdf file, and this file must include the following items in addition to the signed and completed application: A current resume; Three letters of recommendation; Proof of enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or current transcript; and Proof of current FLA membership.
