Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must enroll full time.
  3. Must study photojournalism with a concentration in still and multimedia.
  4. Must be a current undergraduate student who has one or more semesters remaining after the current semester.
  5. Must be enrolled in a four-year college or university in the United States or Canada.

Description: This award is available for undergraduate students who are studying photojournalism and concentrating on still and multimedia. Students must be enrolled full time at a four-year college or university in the U.S. or Canada and have one or more semesters remaining in school.

Additional Information: NPPA members provide support for this scholarship, especially members of the NPPF Booster Club made up of NPPA life members. All applicants must provide evidence of academic ability and financial need, including their grade point average as an indication that they can successfully complete college studies.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. Please note: The scholarship award must be used at the beginning of the next semester. Otherwise, it will be forfeited and given to an alternate.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online from the National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF) website. Before beginning the online application, the student should prepare the following information: contact information for his/her faculty advisor; contact information for a faculty member who will be contacted to submit a recommendation; three short essays listing his/her academic and journalistic accomplishments, explaining his/her need for a scholarship, and stating his/her goals in visual journalism; and his/her overall grade point average.All applicants must submit a portfolio that contains up to 10 total entries. An "entry" is defined as a single picture, a multiple picture story, a multimedia story, or a website link at which the applicant has done significant interactive programming or design. Portfolios must be assembled and submitted according to detailed instructions. These instructions are available on the NPPF website at nppf.org/nppf-scholarships-grants-and-awards/portfolio-submission/.Application materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
