Number of Awards & Eligibility: Six awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university in the United States.
  4. Must be enrolled full time.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must be of Greek-American descent.
  7. Must major in journalism or communications.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are of Greek-American heritage. Students must be majoring in journalism and communications, and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Students must demonstrate financial need and active participation in school, community, and/or church organizations. The scholarships are presented at the Alpha Omega Council's Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner which is typically held in June each year.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $30,000.

Applications are available online on the Alpha Omega Council website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: an essay describing the values he/she hopes to carry from his/her Greek heritage into his/her career as a journalist; any published articles or other professional materials that he/she believes would enhance his/her application; and a current transcript. The application and supporting materials may be emailed or mailed using the addresses provided, and must be sent no later than the deadline date.
