In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be studying law.
  3. Must be a graduate student enrolled for the upcoming academic year in an ABA-accredited law school.

Description: This writing competition is open to all students enrolled for the upcoming school year in any law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). Students must submit a paper on a topic that lies within the substance, procedure, or scope of the specialized jurisdiction of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.

Additional Information: The writing competition is judged by selected members of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. The papers will be judged generally on their substance, clarity, timeliness, and quality of argument, although details of form will not be ignored. The applicant's essay should be the sole work of the applicant. Normal comment and guidance by law school faculty is permitted.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

This is an essay contest. Information regarding this award is available on the Federal Circuit Bar Association website. To enter, the applicant must write an essay addressing a topic that lies within the substance, procedure, or scope of the specialized jurisdiction of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Papers are typically 20 pages in length; however, they cannot exceed 50 pages, including footnotes. All papers must be typed, double-spaced, and on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. All citations and footnotes should be in accord with the current edition of 'The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation'. An original and three copies of each entry must be submitted. The entrant's name and school should not appear on either the original or copies of the paper. A separate cover letter listing the name, address, telephone number, law school, and graduation year must be submitted with each entry. Because judging takes place during the summer, applicants must inform the chairman of any change in address and phone number. All required materials must be submitted online before the deadline date.
