Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in an aviation-related two- or four-year degree program.
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be officially enrolled for the academic year at an NBAA/UAA member institution. A list of eligible institutions is available on the application.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be a current undergraduate student.

Description: This award is for U.S. college sophomores, juniors, and seniors majoring in aviation at a National Business Aviation Association (NBAA)/University Aviation Association (UAA) institution. Students must have a 3.0 grade point average or higher to be eligible.

Additional Information: The Lawrence Ginocchio Aviation Scholarship was created in 2001 by NBAA and the family and friends of the late Lawrence Ginocchio to honor his outstanding personal contribution to the business aviation community.

Award Amount: $4,500 annually, non-renewable. Scholarships will be awarded in the Fall and checks will be made payable to the school. Scholarship recipients must use the funds by Dec. 31, or risk forfeiture of the award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,500.

Applications are available online on the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: an official transcript; a 500- to 1,000-word, typed, double-spaced essay describing his/her interest in and goals for a career in the business aviation industry and demonstrating his/her strength of character; a current one-page resume with his/her permanent home address; and two letters of recommendation, including one from a member of the aviation department faculty at the institution in which he/she is currently enrolled. An additional letter of recommendation from an NBAA member company representative is encouraged, but not required. In the letters, emphasis should be given to the student's outside interests, strength of character and volunteer activities. The student must contact his/her department head or adviser for the institution's NBAA/University Aviation Association (UAA) membership numbers and include this information with the application. The application is not complete if these numbers are missing.All completed applications and required documents must be submitted online and must be received by the deadline date.
