Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must have a private pilot's license and be enrolled in a flight program with aspirations to become a professional pilot (general or commercial aviation).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Graduating high school seniors or current students who are enrolled in a flight program at a college or university are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Richard L. Taylor Flight Training Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Private Pilot's License
Additional Information: The recipient will be notified in writing by the end of May and all other applicants will be notified in writing by mid-June.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available online from the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) website. The applicant must submit an original and three copies of the application, a copy of his/her private pilot's license, official transcripts and an essay about aviation, his/her goals and dreams, and why he/she should receive this scholarship. An incoming freshman must submit a college acceptance letter. Application packages must be postmarked by the last Friday in March.
