Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must major in mechanical engineering.
  4. Must be working toward a doctoral degree in engineering.
  5. Must be enrolled full time.

Description: U.S. citizens enrolled in a mechanical engineering doctoral program are eligible for this award. Students must be ernolled full time.

Application requirements for the Elisabeth M. and Winchell M. Parsons Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter(s) (up to 2)
  • ASME membership
  • Financial information
Additional Information: This scholarship was made possible by the ASME Auxiliary to honor Elisabeth M. and Winchell M. Parsons. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. Applicants also must have established a grade point average in their degree programs to qualify. If applicants have not established a grade point average at the college level, they are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.
