Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen by birth.
  3. Must be a college junior or senior in the upcoming academic year.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must attend a public college or university in one of the states in ASME District E (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, or Wyoming). Please note: Because the Kugle family has funded a Kugle Scholarship at the University of Texas at Arlington, students from that school are not eligible for this award.
  6. Must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. college sophomores or juniors currently enrolled in a public college or university in one of the states in ASME District E (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming) are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and major in mechanical engineering.

Application requirements for the Stephen T. Kugle Scholarship are:

Additional Information: In memory of Dr. Stephen T. Kugle, former student section advisor at the University of Texas at Arlington, a scholarship fund was established by the Kugle family in 2003. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited school for the upcoming academic year. Information regarding accreditation status is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and July 1. Scholarship money will be sent to scholarship winners by the end of August.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Scholarship awardees from past years will not be selected to receive additional scholarships. Students must apply again each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

The student need only submit one application to be considered for all scholarships for which he/she is eligible. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
