Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must enroll full time at an accredited institution.
  3. Must be a music major. An applicant with a vocal or choral emphasis receives preference.
  4. Must be sponsored by an AMCA member chorus. AMCA choruses are located in Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
  5. Must be a college student in a Bachelor’s Degree program at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. and international undergraduate students who are majoring in music. An applicant with a vocal or choral emphasis will receive preference. Students must be sponsored by an AMCA (Associated Male Choruses of America) member chorus. AMCA member choruses are located in Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Application requirements for the Associated Male Choruses of America Music Scholarship are:

Additional Information: To be considered for a scholarship award, the applicant must individually contact an AMCA member chorus and perform with or for that chorus. It is recommended that the applicant call a local contact person to estimate his/her chances of being sponsored before beginning the application process. Lists of member choruses, including contact names and telephone numbers, are available on the AMCA website. A sponsorship form and cover letter must be completed by the sponsoring chorus and mailed to reach the chairman by the deadline. Applicants without such a letter will be eliminated from the evaluation process. Preference is given to vocal music students, but instrumental students can apply. Scholarships are open to both male and female candidates.

Award Amount: The monetary value of the award is based upon the funds available. Three scholarships will be given in the amount of $1,000. One scholarship will be given in the amount of $1,200. All awards are offered annually and are non-renewable. Previous scholarship winners who continue to meet eligibility requirements must reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,200.

Applications are available on the Associated Male Choruses of America (AMCA) website or from an AMCA member chorus. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: three letters of recommendation from people supporting his/her musical background and character (i.e., teacher, director, or administrator); a personal letter written by him/her including information about his/her interests and activities, goals, and plans that might help the scholarship committee in considering him/her for a scholarship; and a copy of his/her most recent transcript of grades. All application materials must be received by the deadline.
