Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of Ventura County, California.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior or current undergraduate student.
  3. Must be majoring in or planning to major in music performance, composition, or music education.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The Frances and Richard Bohn Music Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who are residents of Ventura County, California. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be majoring in (or planning to major in) music.

Additional Information: The Frances and Richard Bohn Music Scholarship is provided annually in partnership with the Ventura County Community Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to a local area resident who is currently graduating high school or already enrolled in an accredited college or university level music program. Applicants may major in musical performance, composition, or in pursuit of a career as a music educator. Academic achievements and demonstrated dedication to music will be considered during scholarship selection.

Award Amount: $1,200 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,200.

Applications and additional information for the Frances and Richard Bohn Music Scholarship are available online at the Ventura County Community Foundation website. To apply for an award, students must complete all sections of the online application form. Applicants must also submit an original essay in response to the award's topic, as well as two letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be submitted by a current faculty member at the school the student is attending. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
