Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be majoring in air quality, waste management, environmental management, environmental policy, or environmental law.
  3. Must be enrolled full time.
  4. Must be enrolled in a graduate program during the academic year following the deadline date.

Additional Information: Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) takes pride in supporting the future environmental leaders of our world in research, teaching, engineering, and environmental practice. To date, the association has awarded more than 108 scholarships totaling over $400,000 to the most promising environmental students.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Last year, awards ranged from $1,400 to $7,500 annually, non-renewable. Past recipients may apply in subsequent years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Applications must be completed online at the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit the following documentation: a plan of study, not to exceed two pages, that explains the relationship between his/her course work and research and his/her career goals; a statement of professional goals, not to exceed two pages, that explains his/her short-term and long-term career objectives; transcripts of baccalaureate and higher degree(s), as applicable (must be issued from registrar); a letter verifying acceptance or enrollment in a graduate program as a full-time student; a resume, not to exceed two pages, outlining his/her work experience; and a resume, not to exceed two pages, outlining his/her participation and involvement in community service and volunteer projects. Supporting documents must be saved to a single PDF file and uploaded to the online application form. The student must also provide contact information for two references, who will each be emailed a link to the A&WMA online evaluation form. It is recommended that at least one of the evaluators be an A&WMA member. The application and all supporting documents must be submitted online no later than 5 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
