Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must graduate from a Baltimore city public high school.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must major in the field of mathematics or science/technology.
  6. Must have a competitive SAT score.
  7. Must be accepted and attend University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC).
  8. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  9. Must be a resident of Maryland.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. high school seniors, majoring in mathematics and/or science/technology who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and a competitive SAT score of 1100 or higher. Preference will be given to students who will attend University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).

Additional Information: This scholarship honors Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski, President, University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He has gained national recognition for the development of the Meyerhoff Scholars Program at UMBC.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, renewable up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Information about and applications for the award are available at the online portal of the CollegeBound Foundation. To access the application for these awards, the student must first register an online account. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received by the deadline.
