Number of Awards & Eligibility: At least two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must be a college sophomore or junior in the upcoming academic year.
  5. Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental sciences.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Pennsylvania, OR serve or have served as an intern with a Pennsylvania office of an ACEC/PA member firm.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. students who will be sophomores or juniors in the upcoming academic year and are studying engineering or environmental sciences. Students must attend a college or university located in Pennsylvania or have served as an intern with a Pennsylvania office of an ACEC/PA member firm.

Application requirements for the Eric J. Gennuso and LeRoy D. (Bud) Loy, Jr. Scholarship Program are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Essay (or video essay or presentation)
  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the winners. The committee will consider the following areas: academic achievements and record; essay/presentation content; submission of all necessary materials; work/internship experience; college/community involvement; and the letter of recommendation.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous finalists may apply again; previous winners cannot apply again.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online on the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) website under the 'For Students' tab. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a certified grade transcript that includes his/her cumulative grade point average; an essay of 500 words or less or a link to a video essay of three minutes or less or a presentation of three minutes or less; and a completed recommendation form. The form should be completed by a professor, employer, community leader, or mentor. All supporting documents must be in .pdf or .doc/.docx formats. Documents may be uploaded via the online application or mailed to the ACEC/PA office. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
