Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three named awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have demonstrated a desire to serve in a career in research, regulatory work, quality control, or teaching in an area related to some aspect of food, drugs, or consumer products safety.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the first two years of undergraduate study.
  5. Must be a current college junior to apply for this senior year award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. college juniors and seniors who are pursuing a career in research, regulatory work, quality control, or teaching in an area related to some aspect of food, drugs, or consumer products safety. Students must also have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher for the first two years of undergraduate study.

Additional Information: The Association of Food and Drug Officials is an international, nonprofit organization whose members are concerned with the development and enforcement of uniform food, drug and other consumer protection laws. The applicant should have demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Applications are available on the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) website.In addition to a completed application, the applicant must submit the following: an official college transcript; a brief, one-page biographical sketch and a statement regarding choice of major and future career plans; and letters of recommendation from two faculty members.Completed applications and all supporting materials must be mailed to the address listed on the application by the deadline.
