Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to twelve awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be majoring in electrical engineering, applied physics, or another field related to microwave studies.
  2. Must be enrolled full-time.
  3. Must be a graduate student engaged in research necessary for the degree program.
  4. Must be a member of IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society.
  5. This award is for international and U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for full-time graduate students majoring in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a similar field, actively participating in research in the microwave area towards their degree, and a member of MTT-S.

Application requirements for the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Graduate Fellowship are:

  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: Awards will be presented at the Annual IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society International Microwave Symposium.

Award Amount: $6,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

Applications are avaliable online from The Institute of Electronic and Electricals Engineers (IEEE) website. In addition to a completed application form, students must submit one reference letter from the research supervisor, one reference letter from a non-associated MTT-S member that the microwave program at the student's school is viable, and all of the student's college transcripts with a description of the grading system used to rate the student. All applications must be received by email no later than the deadline.
