Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have completed at least one year of academic study at the college level.
  2. Must be majoring in chemistry.
  3. Must be a woman.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must have returned to school after at least three years without taking classes.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. women who have returned to higher education after an absence of at least three years. Applicants must be majoring in chemistry and must demonstrate academic potential.

Additional Information: Iota Sigma Pi is a national honor society for women that promotes professional development and personal growth of women in chemistry and related fields through recognition, public outreach, and the formation of supportive networks. Membership consists of women chemists from both industry and academia, as well as graduate and undergraduate chemistry students. Nominations for this award may be made by any member of Iota Sigma Pi or by a member of the faculty of the nominee's institution. Only one nomination may be submitted from any one department within a college or university.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications and additional information about this award can be found online at the Iota Sigma Pi Members-at-Large website using the link provided. To apply for this award, the following items must be saved as a single PDF file: the nomination form; a short, personal essay written by the nominee that describes her goals, pertinent experiences which influenced her choice of major, any interests or talents that will assist her in succeeding in her professional career, and how the scholarship will benefit her in meeting her goals; and two letters of recommendation. One letter must be written by the individual nominating the student, and the other letter must be written by a professor of chemistry who is familiar with the applicant's work. The completed PDF nomination form must be sent as a single attachment by the nominator, via email, to the email address provided. In addition, the student must arrange to have official copies of her transcript mailed to the postal address listed. All application materials must be received by the deadline date. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
