Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student. Graduate and post-doctorate students are not eligible.
  3. Must be enrolled full time.
  4. Must be enrolled at an accredited, degree-granting college or university located in one of the two oil and natural gas producing U.S. states that make up the San Juan Basin. These include: Colorado and New Mexico.
  5. Must reside in Colorado or New Mexico.
  6. Must be pursuing a career in the sciences and/or engineering or other majors relating to corrosion or corrosion control. Scholarship winners shall have a serious interest in full-time professional employment in the corrosion industry upon graduation and shall show promise of a productive future as a technically trained professional.

Description: This scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are pursuing a science or engineering discipline related to the study of corrosion or corrosion control and have a serious interest in full-time professional employment in the corrosion industry after graduation. Students must reside and attend an institution located in the San Juan Basin (Colorado and New Mexico).

Additional Information: This scholarship was created to recognize outstanding students in the San Juan Basin who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of corrosion science and engineering. The NACE Foundation will award one (1) scholarship in the amount of $2,500 on behalf of the NACE Sandia Mountain Section.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Previous applicants and recipients are eligible to reapply each year in open competition with new applicants. All scholarship monies are paid directly to the recipient’s college or university and are to be used for educational expenses only. Expenses include, but not limited to: tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at the educational institution.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the NACE International Foundation website. Please note: Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation’s scholarship system. The student must upload his/her academic transcript to the online application; the transcript must include a description of the grading system. The student must also submit two recommendation forms from educators or employers familiar with his/her background, one of which should be from a corrosion professional with whom he/she has worked; and answers to the four scholarship essay questions. Forms for recommendations and essays are available on the NACE International Foundation website. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date. Application materials submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The NACE Foundation reserves the right to extend any and all scholarship deadlines at their discretion.
