Additional Information: This scholarship is provided in honor of Joyce Anne Kroeller, the founding Executive Director of the CollegeBound Foundation. During her 10-year tenure, she built the foundation into a well-endowed and enormously effective program that has assisted hundreds of Baltimore City public school students in their aspirations of achieving a higher education. Joyce believed passionately in the power of higher education to improve lives and she was intensely committed to public service. She worked on behalf of women and children who were abused, as well as those who suffered from poverty. She was also an advocate for victims of Alzheimer’s disease. Joyce died of melanoma on June 4, 2007 at the age of 57, but this scholarship is awarded, in her memory, to a local high school senior in Baltimore who emodies her spirit of motivation and generosity.
