Description: The Whelan Foundation awards grants to support the higher educational goals of its recipients. It is their goal to equalize opportunities for recipients on Long Island that are normally denied them because of cost. Two Scholarships for Special Education majors totaling up to $10,000.00 per school year are awarded.

Additional Information: The Whelan Foundation’s mission is to award grants to support the higher educational goals of its recipients. It is their goal to equalize opportunities for recipients on Long Island that are normally denied them because of cost. Two Scholarships for candidates studying Special Education totaling up to $10,000.00 per school year (50% per semester) are awarded. These are to be reviewed annually for renewal.

Award Amount: The winner of the The Whelan Foundation Scholarship Program will receive $10,000 each.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.

Applicants must download an application form from the provider website filling in all the fields. They must also supply letters of recommendation, official transcripts, and financial information from the FAFSA. There are also sections about candidate goals, education, awards, work history as well as an essay question.
