Number of Awards & Eligibility: One offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a citizen of the U.S. or Canada.
  3. Must major in welding engineering or engineering technology degree. Priority will be given to welding engineering students interested in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor.
  4. Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent at time of application. The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university to apply for this undergraduate award.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in engineering courses.
  6. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  7. Must be a full-time student as defined by the applicant's academic institution.
  8. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Alabama, Georgia or Florida. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specified area for a minimum of one year.)

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. and Canadian undergraduate students who are 18 years of age or older and are pursuing welding or engineering technology degrees. Students must have a minimum GPA 2.8 or a minimum 3.0 GPA in engineering courses. Priority is given to those residing or attending school in Alabama, Georgia or Florida.

Additional Information: Financial need is not required; however, priority will be given to those individuals demonstrating a financial need. Please note: The applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society, but it is preferred.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. The applicant can reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the American Welding Society website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: two letters of reference; a personal statement; original official transcript(s) sent directly from the college or university (if applying for more than one scholarship, only one transcript must be an original official transcript); verification of enrollment; a statement of unmet financial need; and an essay as specified on the application. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
