Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually. Last year, 109 scholarships were provided.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be of Hispanic or Latino descent.
  3. Must be majoring in or planning to major in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or math.)
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in an undergraduate program during the upcoming academic year.

Description: The Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation Scholarship Program is available for current high school seniors, undergraduates, and returning or non-traditional students who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must be of Hispanic heritage and plan to pursue a major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Additional Information: Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) scholarship recipients continue to pave the way for future generations of Hispanics and lead by example to empower our communities and enhance our nation’s professional technical workforce. Since its inception, years ago, the HENAAC Scholars Program has experienced tremendous growth. In 2008, through the generous support of our program sponsors, HENAAC passed the $1M milestone in scholarships awarded. In 2013, GMiS passed the $2M scholarship milestone.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,500.

Applications and information about this scholarship program are available online at the Great Minds in STEM website. In order to complete an online application, the student must submit the following items as PDF or Word files: an essay in response to the question listed on the application; a one-page resume; official transcripts from all educational institutions attended; one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or advisor; one letter of recommendation from a friend or peer; and a recent photo to be used in promotional announcements related to the scholarship award. All documents must be uploaded with the online application and submitted by the deadline date. Applications may not be saved and finished at a later date, so it is essential that all supporting materials are ready before beginning the online form. Paper copies and late applications will not be considered.
